The BE Project – In a world where you can be anything…. What will you be?

Meet Lori – her word for the 2023 BE Project is Serenity

What word did you choose and why?

Serenity

I chose the word Serenity. God calls us to be calm, untroubled, and peaceful. No matter what comes my way, I aim to stop worrying about it and accept the Lord’s Peace. I know that I am who He says I am, and nothing that comes my way in this life can change that.

 I don’t want to make a resolution, I want to create actual change in my life, so this year I am focusing on the word Serenity. I’ve really taken the Serenity Prayer to heart, and I want to focus on living that truth out in my daily life. I am a worrier by nature, but I no longer want to lose my Peace, because that Peace comes from the Lord. He tells us that we should be calm, untroubled, and peaceful. So I want to put those things into practice. 

 

What is something you hope you accomplish by the end of the year?

            By the end of this year I hope that I’ve really allowed serenity and the Serenity Prayer to sink into every aspect of my life. I hope that I’ve let the worrying go, and that I’ve really embodied the belief that I am who He says I am. 

 

 

 

What is The BE Project?

Have you ever stopped to think about who or what you want to be?  Most often there is a word that drives you.  If you sit in the silence and really think about what type of person you want to be… there will be a word, sometimes more than one word, that will guide you along and push you to keep being a better version of yourself.  This photo project has become something that has touched my heart and hopefully those that have participated. I chose to shoot all of the images in black and white because I wanted the least amount of distractions.  Just the human and the word.   This project is the stories of some amazing people, their stories, and what these words mean to them.  Some have participated each of the 4 years we have done this, some are new each time.  It’s an amazing honor to follow along in their journey and document who they are becoming.
