The BE Project – In a world where you can be anything…. What will you be?

Meet Victoria – her word for the 2023 BE Project is Builder

What word did you choose and why?

Builder

I chose the word Builder. I want to build up those around me, especially my husband who gives so much to our family. I want to build up my kids. I want to be a builder of people. 

This year I chose the word Builder. I want to be a builder of people. The word came to me when I had the chance to attend a leadership conference with my husband last fall. I got to see him in his element and it was so cool to be there to support him in that. It really made me stop and think about all he does to support me and my crazy adventures, and just how grateful I am to him for that. He is constantly building me up, and I want to really work on returning the favor. And that thought really started to blossom from there. I want to build up my kids, in their own unique passions and their confidence in who they are. I want to build up my community every chance I get. I want to build up everyone around me. If I can lend a smile, I will. If I can make someone feel seen and encouraged, I will take that opportunity. I want my interactions with people to become a building block they can use.

If you could go back and talk to a younger version of yourself, what would you say?

            If I could go back and talk to Victoria a year ago, I’d just tell her that there will be so many opportunities to build others up – capitalize on those. Go all in and always continue recognizing the little things, for yourself, for your family, and for everyone around you.

 

 

What is The BE Project?

Have you ever stopped to think about who or what you want to be?  Most often there is a word that drives you.  If you sit in the silence and really think about what type of person you want to be… there will be a word, sometimes more than one word, that will guide you along and push you to keep being a better version of yourself.  This photo project has become something that has touched my heart and hopefully those that have participated. I chose to shoot all of the images in black and white because I wanted the least amount of distractions.  Just the human and the word.   This project is the stories of some amazing people, their stories, and what these words mean to them.  Some have participated each of the 4 years we have done this, some are new each time.  It’s an amazing honor to follow along in their journey and document who they are becoming.
