The 2024 BE Project – In a world where you can BE anything, what will you choose?
I want to defy this year. I want this year to be something, I need purpose. I have a lot going on, like I quit my job of 20 years at the hospital. I want to keep pushing forward. I wanna make this year better for our food truck, for our business, and for our family.
Meet Ashley Wilkerson and Her Personal Reflections
Before I quit my corporate job, I was juggling the accounting and the business part of our business while my husband was running the food truck. I was doing that and working full-time, it was becoming a lot. So we took a leap in January for me to come home and work on the business together. It probably wasn’t the best in January because it’s slow, but I was like, we’re going to start this year off and we’re going to just do it.
I’m very peaceful at where I’m at. We’ve been together eight years, prior to that I went through a pretty messy divorce. I have really found somebody who I love and who really takes care of me and shows me everything that they should.
If you could go back and talk to yourself two years ago, what would you say?
That it’s going to get better? Growing up, we grew up dirt poor. We lived in motels. We were traveling all over. And I graduated at 16. I was done. I wanted to be on my own and have my own life and just succeed. And it is really, I’ve done that. I’m proud of myself for that.
If tomorrow never comes, what would you regret not doing?
I don’t know that I have anything that I regret not doing. That’s one thing since my divorce, that I, I was, I told myself, like, we’re going to do everything we want to do. We don’t have to listen to anybody anymore.
