The BE Project | Wendy and “Memories”
Every year, The BE Project invites people into my studio to pause, reflect, and choose a word that will guide the next chapter of their lives. It is not about perfection or reinvention overnight. It is about honesty. Courage. Becoming.
When Wendy stepped in front of my camera, her voice softened when she said her word.
“Memories.”
It came from a season shaped by grief, caregiving, and a deep understanding that nothing is promised.
The BE Project exists because I believe that we are all evolving and every person deserves to see themselves as art while they are becoming the person they are meant to be.

Why She Chose “Memories”
Wendy shared that she lost her father several years ago and is now walking alongside her mother through Alzheimer’s.
She has also grieved close friends.
These experiences sharpened her priorities.
Instead of more things, she wants moments.
Instead of rushing, she wants presence.
She and her family began choosing experiences over gifts, trips instead of packages under the tree.
“Nothing else matters but your family.”
What She Is Working Toward This Year
Wendy is committed to creating meaningful time with her children, who are now older and stepping into independence.
She wants dinners that linger.
Trips that become stories.
Ordinary days that feel sacred simply because they are shared.
What Grounds Her
One of Wendy’s proudest joys is her marriage.
She spoke tenderly about her husband and the work they have done together, studying, learning, rebuilding, choosing each other through difficult seasons.
That partnership is her anchor.
What She Is Learning About Herself
Wendy is learning that grief and gratitude can coexist.
That sorrow does not erase joy.
That loving deeply makes loss heavier but life richer.
She is choosing to live with both hands open.
Photographing “Memories”
In the studio, memories looked luminous.
Soft smiles.
Eyes full of stories.
A woman who has lived enough to know exactly what matters now.
Her portraits felt timeless.
A Final Reflection
Wendy’s story reminds us that the richest life is built out of moments, not milestones.
The dinners.
The trips.
The laughter.
The ordinary Tuesdays.
What word would you choose for this season of your life?
What are you stepping into this year?
