The BE Project | Samantha and “Faith”
Every year, The BE Project invites people into my studio to pause, reflect, and choose a word that will guide the next chapter of their lives. It is not about perfection or reinvention overnight. It is about honesty. Courage. Becoming.
When Samantha stepped in front of the camera, her word was confirmed in more than one way.
“Faith.”
She prayed about it.
And then it showed up again as a Christmas gift from her best friend, a sweatshirt that simply said Faith.
Sometimes confirmation feels like that.
The BE Project exists because I believe that we are all evolving and every person deserves to see themselves as art while they are becoming the person they are meant to be.
Why She Chose “Faith”
Samantha already considers herself a woman of faith, but she believes this year will stretch her deeper.
She spoke about Abraham and Hebrews 11, about the kind of faith that trusts without visible evidence.
She reflected on hymns and worship songs that remind her that God’s faithfulness never wavers, even when circumstances do.
“His faithfulness is steady and true.”
What She Is Working Toward This Year
This marks her twentieth year in the classroom.
Samantha loves teaching. She thrives there.
Her goal is to continue growing professionally while leading her students with compassion and openness, even when curriculum changes feel challenging.
She also checked something off her personal list this year: getting her ears pierced again, a small but meaningful act of doing something for herself.
What Grounds Her
Her husband grounds her physically and emotionally.
Faith grounds her spiritually.
Walking clears her mind.
Together, those rhythms keep her steady.
What She Is Learning About Herself
Samantha is proud of the mother she has been.
Proud of the teacher she continues to become.
And proud that even after twenty years, she is still learning.
Faith is not stagnant.
It grows.
Photographing “Faith”
In the studio, faith showed up as peace.
A quiet confidence.
A woman whose steadiness comes from something deeper than circumstances.
Her portraits felt hopeful and luminous.
A Final Reflection
Samantha’s story reminds us that faith is not about certainty.
It is about trust.
It is about walking forward even when you cannot see the entire path.
What word would you choose for this season of your life?
What are you stepping into this year?
