The BE Project | Robert and “Better”
Every year, The BE Project invites people into my studio to pause, reflect, and choose a word that will guide the next chapter of their lives. It is not about perfection or reinvention overnight. It is about honesty. Courage. Becoming.
When Robert stepped in front of the camera, his word was simple.
“Better.”
No complicated explanation.
Just a quiet decision.
The BE Project exists because I believe that we are all evolving and every person deserves to see themselves as art while they are becoming the person they are meant to be.
Why He Chose “Better”
Robert admitted that up until recently, he did not even think he would have a word this year.
Then it kept showing up.
On signs.
On clothes.
Even on his socks.
It felt like a nudge.
Better dad.
Better husband.
Better friend.
Better employee.
Better in his health.
Not perfection.
Just better.
“Just be better.”
What He Is Working Toward This Year
Last year, Robert was passed over for a significant promotion.
That stung.
This year, he wants another shot.
But more than that, he wants to show up differently at home.
To be more involved.
More present.
Less reactive.
To let go of the idea that he is invincible and instead take his health seriously.
He is beginning to understand that strength also means knowing your limits.
What Grounds Him
“Range therapy.”
Time at the shooting range clears his head.
So does time with his tight-knit circle of friends.
Four or five guys he trusts.
Men who understand him without explanation.
That space lets him reset.
What He Is Learning About Himself
Robert shared something honest.
He is not Superman.
And realizing that has actually made him stronger.
He is proud that he has started taking his health seriously.
Proud that he is aware enough to know he can grow.
Photographing “Better”
In the studio, better showed up as humility.
Strong shoulders.
Steady eyes.
A man who understands that growth is not flashy.
It is incremental.
Intentional.
Built in daily choices.
A Final Reflection
Robert’s story reminds us that better is not a destination.
It is a direction.
What word would you choose for this season of your life?
What are you stepping into this year?
