The BE Project | Misty and “Kindness”
Every year, The BE Project invites people into my studio to pause, reflect, and choose a word that will guide the next chapter of their lives. It is not about perfection or reinvention overnight. It is about honesty. Courage. Becoming.
When Misty stepped in front of my camera, her word was layered with tenderness and strength.
“Kindness.”
Not only toward others, but toward herself after years of healing, survival, and rebuilding.
The BE Project exists because I believe that we are all evolving and every person deserves to see themselves as art while they are becoming the person they are meant to be.
Why She Chose “Kindness”
Misty shared that life has taught her how powerful gentleness can be.
She has walked through physical hardship and emotional battles that forced her to slow down and re-learn how to listen to her body.
Kindness became her anchor.
Not as weakness.
As wisdom.
“I want to lead with kindness, especially toward myself.”
What She Is Working Toward This Year
This season is about healing forward.
Misty is focusing on nourishment instead of punishment. Rest instead of guilt. Speaking to herself with the same compassion she offers everyone else.
She is rebuilding trust with her body.
What Grounds Her
When life feels heavy, Misty turns inward.
Stillness.
Prayer.
Quiet moments that help her reconnect with herself.
She is learning how to create safety inside her own mind again.
What She Is Learning About Herself
Misty is discovering that survival can leave invisible scars.
And that healing is not linear.
She is learning to forgive her body.
To soften her inner voice.
To honor how far she has already come.
Photographing “Kindness”
In the studio, kindness showed up as softness in Misty’s eyes and strength in her posture.
A woman who has been through storms and decided to treat herself with grace anyway.
Her portraits carried gentleness without fragility.
Warmth without apology.
A Final Reflection
Misty’s story reminds us that sometimes the bravest thing you can do is be gentle.
With your past.
With your body.
With your becoming.
What word would you choose for this season of your life?
What are you stepping into this year?
