In a World Where You Can BE Anything… What will you choose?

Renee chooses Cherished

Why does the word Cherished resonate with you?

“When I partnered with you two years ago I chose the word valued, because I was in a marriage where I did not feel valued.  I wore that necklace every day, and I was never asked about it by him.  That marriage ultimately came to an end, if I look back, it was already well on its way to the end.  I started going to a local karaoke, more or less as an escape from a very rough home environment. I began to make a lot of friends and ultimately met a man named Stan.  I wanted to focus on my kids, on me, my career… learning how to love me and find my own value.  I never intended on a relationship with Stan.  I didn’t believe that I needed to be in another romantic relationship.. and he was older than me.  When I needed a really good friend the most, he was there.  The thing was, every time I saw him, he remembered things I shared with him from weeks prior.  He made an effort to listen to things we talked about.  I was so surprised because I had been in a marriage that I felt invisible in… he was so unique.  The more I got to know him, and as we started dating…I found I could not no longer put the “valued” necklace back on.  I no longer needed a reminder that I was valuable.  Stan showed me what is was like to be valued and cherished.”

If you could give your children one piece of advice that they carry with them throughout life… what would that be?

“I would want my daughter to recognize that she IS worthy  She is valuable, I want her to realize that to her core.  It’s not always about how someone treats you… it’s about how you treat yourself.  Never lose sight of it.  When you find that person that reflects that back to you… you will know it. I would tell my son to always be true to himself.  He has an amazing heart.  He is such a genuine and true person – I never would want him to lose that.”

The BE Necklace Line – created by Woolard’s Custom Jewelers

In 2016, I partnered with a good friend of mine and Woolard’s Custom Jewelers in Burleson, TX  to create a necklace line.  The idea and intent behind these necklaces was to be a gentle reminder of you we are striving to be, day in and day out.  We often forget that beyond all of that, all of the day to day responsibilities and challenges… we are strong, beautiful, inspiring and so many other things.  We are greater than what we feel every day. To remember that you are capable of great things. If you could BE anything… what would you BE?  The stories you are reading here on the blog are to celebrate women and learn more about why they have chosen the words that resonate with them.

The BE Project with Beautiful Evolutions Photography

The BE Project was created in 2016.  Two crazy girls had an idea and it came to life on a napkin at lunch one day. They partnered with a local jeweler, Woolards Custom Jewelry and a beautiful necklace was created.  What began as a marketing campaign turned in to an annual photo project that has allowed people to share a word that is important to them and why that word guides them.  Each year, in January, the project opens back up for registrations.  One week is dedicated to photographing the incredible people that want to join us.  All images are black and white to keep from any distractions.  Just the human and their word.
