The BE Project – In a world where you can be anything…. What will you be?

Meet Bonnie – her word for the 2023 BE Project is Serene

What word did you choose and why?

This year I chose the word Serene. I don’t want to spend so much time focusing on the situations that I can’t control. I aim to breathe through the moments where I want to react. When the hard moments come up, I want to breathe, step back, and let it be. I want to practice serenity.

I am a gut reactor. I want to solve, change, and correct things. The thing is, I can’t control every situation. I want to practice serenity, and focus on breathing through the hard moments and just let them be. It will benefit not only my health, but those around me as well. I want to be calm and truly relax, and this year feels like the time to really get serious about that. It’s a strong word for me, but I’m ready for it.

If you could talk to a younger version of yourself, what would you say to her?

If I could talk to younger Bonnie, I’d tell her not to worry so much about what others say. I’d tell her to just be yourself and stop trying to keep up with whatever others may or may not be doing. Just take a breath and do what you want, within reason of course!

The BE Project with Beautiful Evolutions Photography

The BE Project was created in 2016.  Two crazy girls had an idea and it came to life on a napkin at lunch one day. They partnered with a local jeweler, Woolards Custom Jewelry and a beautiful necklace was created.  What began as a marketing campaign turned in to an annual photo project that has allowed people to share a word that is important to them and why that word guides them.  Each year, in January, the project opens back up for registrations.  One week is dedicated to photographing the incredible people that want to join us.  All images are black and white to keep from any distractions.  Just the human and their word.

Head over to THE BE Project page read some of the incredible stories that have been shared with us.
