The 2024 BE Project – In a world where you can BE anything, what will you choose?

I’ve always wanted to be a lot more than I am. I could choose confident, I can choose all these other words. I want to be confident, more confident. However, in quantum leap you go from one extreme to another. So, being mellow and being confident and being courageous and being all of these things, you just combine them into one and you leap from who you are to who you want to be.

Meet Brittney and Her Personal Reflections

When I was burned, I was a totally different person than I am now. I was very shy. I wasn’t into being in front of the spotlight. That’s not who I was. I was the person that said – don’t look at me. I didn’t think I was pretty and oddly enough, it took a burn for me to go, oh, I’m gorgeous.

I’ve been actually approached by people who are like, let us do this plastic/reconstructive surgery for you. All you have to do is pay for the hospital and anesthesia. And I’m like, I’m kind of comfortable with how I am now.

I’m just comfortable with how I am, but in saying that, getting out of the comfort zone is one of the things that I want to do too. I want to take it from who I used to be, to who I envisioned myself my whole life. So, I’m going to leap and not just in feeling confident and feeling beautiful and all the feeling aspect of it. I want to do so much more than what I’m doing now.

If you could go back and talk to yourself two years ago, what would you say?

Be bold. Be confident. Don’t be afraid of the remarks that go around you. Don’t be afraid of what they’re talking about you. Put that negativity into something positive. Know that you were created in an image that is beautiful and perfect, and you wouldn’t have been created that way if God didn’t want you that way. So, don’t listen to negativity. Do what you want to do.

The BE Project with Beautiful Evolutions Photography

The BE Project was created in 2016.  Two crazy girls had an idea and it came to life on a napkin at lunch one day. They partnered with a local jeweler, Woolards Custom Jewelry and a beautiful necklace was created.  What began as a marketing campaign turned in to an annual photo project that has allowed people to share a word that is important to them and why that word guides them.  Each year, in January, the project opens back up for registrations.  One week is dedicated to photographing the incredible people that want to join us.  All images are black and white to keep from any distractions.  Just the human and their word.

Head over to THE BE Project page read some of the incredible stories that have been shared with us.
