The 2024 BE Project – In a world where you can BE anything, what will you choose?
I want to have a more well-rounded life, because I seem to forget about myself a lot. I let other things take priority and I forget to take care of myself.
Meet Bonnie Mays and Her Personal Reflections
I came from being a workaholic, working in print industry (which I’m back in) but I have the knowledge now to do better. I think it goes back to balance, too.
I’ve never really had that knowledge of people who put their family first because I’ve been in the print industry, my parents were in the print industry, so there was always the newspaper, the deadlines come first, and then you get to play.
But with the church life, of course you have deadlines, you have things you need to do, but your family is so important, and I would always be apologizing for taking the time to deal with my family, whatever it was, and that was a huge thing. In the church world, your family is first. They will tell you, don’t worry about us, we’ll figure it out. I think that Leslie and Rick Owen, they both instilled that in me, and I got to take that back when I left.
If you could go back and talk to yourself two years ago, what would you say?
Get better grades in school first. Don’t stop doing your hard work and stuff. Don’t stop doing the things you love for any reason.
If tomorrow never comes, what would you regret not doing?
Traveling more.
