The BE Project – In a world where you can be anything…. What will you be?

Meet Brenda – her word for the 2023 BE Project is Restoration

What word did you choose and why?

Restoration

I chose the word restoration. I want to refocus on the things that matter. I no longer want to doubt my self-worth, or my potential. I know who I am and what I have to offer I want to restore my self-confidence and remember that if it doesn’t have to do with eternity, it doesn’t matter.

It’s been a tough year, and I started doubting my self-worth a little bit. I retired from a job that I never thought I would retire from, but the season came. It was time. Now it’s time to refocus a bit. Restoration means getting back to who I am. I can focus on enjoying my grandkids in this season of life, and maybe even have work on the side. But my focus isn’t on work anymore. My husband and I both have always had a servant’s spirit, and we want to lean in to that more and see where that takes us.

If you could go back and talk to a younger version of yourself, what would you say?

If I could go back and talk to younger Brenda, I’d tell her to continue to be amazed at what you’ve achieved. I’ve learned and done everything by the Grace of God, and I’m so appreciative of that. I want to continue to give Him the Glory and not be so worried about the things that don’t matter so much. If there is any advice I’ve given my kids that they continue carrying with them, I hope it’s the fact that if it doesn’t have to do with eternity, they shouldn’t sweat it. We worry too much about stuff that has nothing to do with anything that will happen at the end, and that’s the truth.

The BE Project with Beautiful Evolutions Photography

The BE Project was created in 2016.  Two crazy girls had an idea and it came to life on a napkin at lunch one day. They partnered with a local jeweler, Woolards Custom Jewelry and a beautiful necklace was created.  What began as a marketing campaign turned in to an annual photo project that has allowed people to share a word that is important to them and why that word guides them.  Each year, in January, the project opens back up for registrations.  One week is dedicated to photographing the incredible people that want to join us.  All images are black and white to keep from any distractions.  Just the human and their word.

Head over to THE BE Project page read some of the incredible stories that have been shared with us.
