The BE Project – In a world where you can be anything…. What will you be?
Meet Jocelyn – even though life probably hasn’t thrown the kindest things… she is learning how to be brave and rise above.

What word did you choose and why?
Valiant
Valiant means to be brave and strong. I have had a lot of troubles and hardships in my life – it is important to me. Valiant has a lot of qualities to it – I wanted to be more than just brave. I find the strength to be valiant by remembering why i need to be strong. Even in low moments, i know there will be a high one coming. .
What is something you want to accomplish or conquer?
In the next year – i want to feel more comfortable with the family that I am choosing for myself vs the family i was given.

The BE Project – In a world where you can be anything…. What will you be?
Meet Becky. She suffered a lot of loss this past year. “I lost my husband. I lost my mom. I lost my grandmother who raised me. It’s been a rough road. Losing my husband was something i never saw coming. We were married for 27 years, together for 30 years”

What word did you choose and why?
Strength
I have found a strength within myself and those around me to keep going. My friends and my boys – they give me laughter and something better to focus on.
If you could go back 30 years ago… what would you tell that Becky.
I would tell myself that you are a lot stronger than you think you are. I’ve always had someone take care of me. So i am learning that it can do it. I find pride in myself for doing the things that I didn’t know i could.
What is something you want to accomplish or conquer?
I want to get thru the Alaskan cruise i am going on. It was the cruise my husband wanted to go on. I want to go and make memories and truly enjoy it. That will be the first time that i travel without him.

The BE Project – In a world where you can be anything…. What will you be?
Meet Ellie Grace – I’ve had the honor of photographing her before she even knew who I was. This little girl is the perfect combination of her mom and dad. She when she’s around people she doesn’t know and full of life if you give her the chance.

What word did you choose and why?
Love
Love is being kind to each other and helping people if they fall. Helping them when they drop something. Love your family means you trust them. You have to be kind to them and honest with them.
Couldn’t we all use a little more of this mindset? Thank you sweet girl for sharing your heart with me.

The BE Project – In a world where you can be anything…. What will you be?
Meet Tanya – sometimes even with the brightest smiles – we still struggle to quiet the voices in our minds. However, I hope that when she comes back to me in a year – she sees her value stronger than she does today.

What word did you choose and why?
Enough
I never think I am enough. This year i decided that i want to change my mindset. I’m pretty, skinny, smart, funny enough. This is the start of my transition into thinking better things. I want to set a good example for my 24 year old daughter.
Why focus on this now?
I decided this was the year because i am not in a good place – something has to change. Perhaps if start thinking positively i will change my mindset. I want my health to get better without up and down dieting. I want to change me to help her focus on the positive.

Meet Tamara – Yall this little firecracker is so much fun!

What word did you choose and why?
Fearless
I am tired of being fearful of success. Sometimes you get scared of success and you back off a little bit. Of course we are fearful of what others think and don’t want to hear someone tell you no. I just need to get out there and do it.
I had an epiphany on a zoom call. Just get over it and do it. I went and grabbed my bible and looked up fear in the back. Psalms 23:4 is the scripture that I first came to. “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
My goal this year is to push past fear and become the powerful woman I know that I am.
