I met Moira a few years ago at a networking event. I instantly thought she was a remarkable woman and knew that I wanted to photograph her. It’s funny how everything works out just right. Moira is refocusing on her real estate business and needed to update her head shots to elevate her business to the next level. She needed current images that not only showed she was an expert in her industry, but also showed a little more to who she is than just a basic head shot.

Moira has been in real estate for 17 years, and she has decided that 2018 is the year that she is going to up her game and take her business to the next level. What you might not know about Moira is that she is a Master of many other things. Gardening is one of them and probably one of her biggest loves and passions… besides her husband of course. I knew that Moira wanted updated head shots that were more modern and fit her branding and business a little better than what she had been using. She wanted simple, classic, and modern. I wanted her to have those images, but I also wanted to know what really motivated her. If you have ever had a conversation with her, you will know pretty quickly, that gardening is something that runs deep within her and keeps her soul happy. She can tell you just about anything you want to know and I may or may not have pried a few tips and tricks from her while we were getting her hair and makeup done. Moira’s real estate business is what she spends her days focused on. I have no doubt that this year, will be the year that she crushes each and every one of her goals. I asked her what she would want her prospective clients to know about her and her business. She told me her “mission is to make the buying or selling process as easy and enjoyable as possible.” If you have never purchased or sold a home, let me tell you – this is a very stressful process. However, I have no doubt in my mind at all, that Moira could easily hold someone’s hand and guide them through this process with ease. She has a beautiful way of making people around her feel a sense of joy and sets them at ease.

I was able to connect with Sharon at her gym and ask her a few questions about her, life, business, and fitness. Please check out our conversation below.
How you got started and how you got to where you are today?
I started out working in physical therapy as an exercise Physiologist for about 12 years. My first client needed an alternative once she had completed rehab. I jokingly said you can just hire me as your personal trainer. She did! I started doing personal training for her. I was still working full time but trained her in the morning before work. The personal training just went from there. I went ahead and got certified in personal training. I had another client that suggested I start a boot camp. I thought that sounded like a great idea. So, I started in the summer of 2007 with some fliers and a small group of women, and that is how Sharon’s Slammin Women’s Bootcamp started. Before I knew it, I had 20-30 women in two different classes. I was living in Ruston, Louisiana at the time, and there was nothing like that in the area. Summer came and went, our classes dwindled down until someone suggested I add a 5 am class. Once I started offering that class, it just took off and went crazy for the next 5 years. When I left Louisiana I had 3 locations.
Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My classes were going great – I had several locations and classes. My husband was offered a coaching position with TCU so we relocated. I had to completely start over in an area that I had no knowledge about. That’s a hard thing to have to start completely over.
A had a friend that had moved to the area, we met for lunch and she connected me to a group of moms on Facebook. I introduced myself online, explained that I was starting a local class that April and a few of them signed up. From there, it’s history – 5 years later we are here every morning. In addition to these classes, I also teach at a gym. I now have 2 classes each morning and another trainer at the gym for private training.
Tell us about your business/company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What sets you apart from others?
My mission is empowerment and shaping the lives of women through exercise. I open up each class with a devotion. Classes are strictly for women only. I try to add value to these women’s lives by causing a change from the inside out. It’s more than just exercise.
What sets me apart from other programs is that I am so relationship driven by my clients. I truly want to get to know them and help them have a happier body and life.
What do you like best about living in the Fort Worth (Tanglewood) area?
I grew up in Louisiana, met my husband at Louisiana Tech. He coached there for 15 years. Louisiana was home for 20+ years. Now that I am here in Fort Worth. There are so many more opportunities here. I just started my first corporate wellness program, I have my classes here and my private training. I love the community of this area (Tanglewood). It may be a big city, but it still feels small and intimate. Women are holding each other accountable and building friendships through these classes. It’s great to see these relationships evolve outside of the classes each morning.
What are you most proud of as a company? Tell me about a client that has made an impact on you or your business?
I am most proud of the change I see in these women’s lives. I get clients that come in and think they can’t do it, and before long, they end up loving exercise. You can see the light bulb come on and they all of a sudden believe they were capable of things they thought were impossible before. The transformations that I see in these women is great – I want to be a part of the change.
What is included when a client books your service?
You can choose our regular fitness class or a HIIT class. I am not a nutritionist, but I do understand how food impacts a body, so I help guide each client to use their diet to help affect the change in their bodies and reach their physical goals.
I offer a one week trial to make sure this is the right program for them. At the end of the week, we do a full assessment and set goals. We track body weight, body fat, do their measurements and discuss what goals they want to achieve, I also give them a nutrition plan to help them get started.
All of my clients have access to coaching calls, one on one conversations and all classes.
What’s one interesting fact about your business?
I include devotions in my business. You just never know who is in the class. My business is for people who are looking to improve their bodies and minds. Every class starts with a devotion, we focus on faith and positivity.

Tabitha reached out several months ago because she needed to update her family pictures. It had been several years since they had them done… and it was way past time. Tabitha and Dusty have two BEAUTIFUL girls and while it may have taken them a few minutes to get over their stranger danger… they did a fabulous job and we had a lot of fun. Family sessions will always hold a special place in my heart. They are a lot of work for mommas… and dads never really want to be there. The kids have usually been bribed with candy, food, or a special toy. What makes me happy is when it is all said and done, and mom finally gets to see her images, she sees her family in a new light. She sees the giggles, the love, and all the beautiful little pieces of her family. That is what I think a true family session should be like. Tabitha, I hope you cherish these images and put them up everywhere.

Tabitha and Dusty have two absolutely beautiful girls. Lexy is 7 years old. She’s quiet, shy, and takes a little bit to warm up. She is a great big sister and knows just how to help get giggles from her little sis. Lexy took a few minutes to warm up with me. I’ve learned a long time ago, to give them their time and their space. I also happen to know a couple of ways to get them to break out of their little shell a little faster. It didn’t take too long at all and she was smiling at me and having fun. Kelsy is 2 years old. She’s full of energy and raring to go. Kelsy stayed pretty close to her daddy in the beginning… but I realized that she was pretty interested in all of the nature that surrounded us. As soon as we stopped taking pictures after the first few minutes, I let them collect rocks and had them sit down to count them. It was beautiful to watch the girls work together and explore.
Once I was able to get the girls laughing and giggling – we got back to our purpose. I wanted to tell the story of this sweet family. The love you can feel from them is truly beautiful. The girls are at such a sweet age and I could tell at every moment that mom and dad were so proud of their family.
I asked mom what the girls enjoyed doing together and one of the things she mentioned was reading, so I asked her to bring a couple of books. These images just stole my heart. If you look closely – you will see that Kelsy is imitating everything that her big sister was doing, including how she laid beside her. These moments are priceless. These are the moments that I want to capture for parents. They are fleeting and before long these little girls won’t be so little. However, my hope is that they look at these years down the road and can still hear the laughter.
Can’t forget to get a few pictures of mom and dad.

This year I changed how we structure our family sessions. I am a big believer in telling stories thru images, but there is something about a family session that I think that holds even more true. Every little detail that I try to capture tells a story. Watching a mom pick and choose which images she will keep honestly just breaks my heart. So going forward, all of our family sessions include the fully gallery that is sent to you. I want each family to see their family the way that I see it. I want the little details to be just as important as the big beautiful picture that goes above the fireplace. One of the greatest things about being a Senior Photographer is that I get to meet some of the coolest girls and learn more about their dreams while we shoot. Ms. Abby is graduating this spring from Forney High School and when her dad hired me to be her Class of 2018 Senior Photographer, I was so excited. Not only is she a gorgeous girl – she has got big plans for the future and I cannot wait to see what she makes happen for herself. We spent the afternoon pampering her in hair and makeup and then we walked all over downtown Fort Worth.
Abby, Class of 2018, Forney High School
Have you ever met someone and you were completely blown away by them after just a few minutes of meeting them. That is Abby. I met Abby for the first time while she was getting hair and makeup done. Normally, I would have met her for a pre-consultation, but scheduled never aligned perfectly for her to be in town when I met with her dad. She sat in the makeup chair pretty quietly. She watched what was going on and smiled a lot. As soon as we got on location, Abby busted out with a couple of things that had me literally laughing out loud. I could see the embarrassment crawl up her dad’s neck, because you see, Abby speaks whatever thoughts are flying thru her mind. Luckily, it is pretty hard to surprise me anymore. I think it quickly became one of the things I loved most about Abby. She’s not too worried about what anyone else thinks and just walks to her own little beat. To me, that means she is going to carve out her own path and take charge of everything she wants in life.
Abby – Future Plans
After graduation, Abby is going to school and work on becoming a nurse. I love that she already has a strong plan and knows exactly what needs to happen to get there. When I watch her dad interact with her, I can see how proud he is of her. She may speak her mind, and sometimes it might be things that should be kept on the inside, but Abby is full of life and keeps everyone laughing. I have no doubt in my mind that Abby is a force to be reckoned with today and that will only become more true as she grows in life. When I originally asked her about what type of nursing she wants to go into, she told me she wanted to work with babies. Abby will begin attending TCC in the fall to start down her path of becoming a neonatal nurse.

Each and every one of my clients makes me so thankful that I get to do this every day. My high school senior clients fill my soul and remind me of the greatness that is coming in our little world. Even though we didn’t do Abby’s senior pictures in Forney, where she has gone to school, we had such a great time in Fort Worth. I think it was the perfect location for what she wanted for her senior session. Abby thank you for trusting me to create beautiful images for you. It was my honor to be your senior photographer.
